Credit unions across the country understand the power of collaboration. Take for instance the Enhanced FiCEP Program, which is a unique financial counselor training program available for credit union organizations and staff.
A partnership between the National Credit Union Foundation’s REAL Solutions program, CUNA’s Center for Professional Development (CUNA CPD), credit union leagues, and credit unions, the program is designed to enable credit union staff to provide professional financial counseling to help members prepare for their future. The training provides employees with special skills to help their members better understand important financial concepts such as how to improve one’s credit score and get approved for a loan.
The program so far has been a great success. In 2015 275 new credit union staff from 95 credit unions in 9 states completed the certification program and became Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors (CCUFC). The program is on track for 2016 to be the biggest year yet.
